John Comazzi is Associate Professor of Architecture and Associate Dean of Academics at the UVA School of Architecture, with a joint appointment in the School of Education and Human Development. He joined UVA in 2017 as Director of the Design Thinking Concentration.
His teaching and scholarship focus on mid-century modern architecture, design theory, architecture photography, active learning environments for PK–12 education, and design-build practice. He is the author of Balthazar Korab: Architect of Photography (Princeton Architectural Press), named among The Guardian's best architecture books of 2012.
He previously taught at the University of Michigan and the University of Minnesota, where he directed the undergraduate architecture program. He serves on the UVA Innovates Advisory Council.
